The old repack ran on Java 8 (EOL). The updated version is recompiled for Java 17 LTS, offering better garbage collection, lower RAM usage (down from 4GB to 2.5GB), and modern security patches. The modding scene survives on these "updated repacks

Because this is a "repack," it does not go into the usual Media/Mods folder the same way.

For MudRunner (most stable):

For Spintires (Legacy): The repack includes a separate Media.zip injection. Do not use the MudRunner version on Spintires—the XML nodes are different.

The original 3008 client was 32-bit, causing crashes when entering large-scale dredgions. The updated repack includes a 4GB patch .exe (or a pre-configured 64-bit launcher) allowing the game to use more than 3GB of RAM.
