Cerwin Vega B119

The Cerwin-Vega B119 is a professional-grade, powered subwoofer designed to deliver the high-impact, chest-thumping low end that the brand has been famous for since the 1970s. Part of the "B" series (predecessor to the XLS series), this 400-watt behemoth is built for mobile DJs, live sound reinforcement, and high-end home theater setups where sheer output matters more than subtlety.

You can’t talk about Cerwin-Vega without mentioning the red foam surround. It is their trademark. On the B-119, the surround is oversized (often referred to as an "accordion" style or heavily treated foam depending on the specific revision). This allows for extreme excursion (cone movement) which is necessary to produce those low, rumbling frequencies.

Cerwin Vega kept the rear panel refreshingly simple: cerwin vega b119

The Cerwin-Vega B119 occupies a unique space in the market. It offers the brand's legendary heritage and build quality at a price point that is accessible to beginners and budget-conscious audiophiles. Missing feature: No wireless capability

Cons:

Pulling the B119 out of the box, the design language is unmistakably Cerwin Vega. You are greeted by the iconic red surround. It’s loud before you even plug it in.

The cabinet is constructed from MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with a black vinyl finish. It isn't "furniture grade"—don't expect the high-gloss piano finishes of an SVS or a JL Audio. This is a working subwoofer. The front grille is a thick, perforated metal mesh that can take a kick drum hit or a spilled beer (though we don't recommend testing that). Dimensions & Weight:

This is a two-person lift. The sheer volume of the cabinet is necessary for what lives inside.
