You will fight Draco Malfoy and other students. If there is one reason to seek out the Harry Potter Half Blood Prince game PC, it is the recreation of Hogwarts. Unlike the corridor-heavy design of earlier games, this Hogwarts is sprawling and interconnected. Let’s be honest: the highlight of this game is the potion-making minigame. It is absurdly detailed for a 2009 movie tie-in. The game tracks your "cleanliness" and timing. It’s stressful in the best way. I spent more time trying to get an "Outstanding" on Veritaserum than I did on the final boss fight. Here is the sad truth: You cannot buy this game digitally anymore. Licensing issues (thanks, Warner Bros. and EA) have left it in legal limbo. No Steam, no GOG. If you find an old CD-ROM on eBay, you will face three problems: The fix: Look for community patches (search for "HBP PC widescreen fix" or "No-CD patch" strictly for backup purposes if you own the disc). You’ll need to run the installer in Windows 7 compatibility mode. It’s a hassle, but for the nostalgia of brewing Liquid Luck, it’s worth it. |
