The Correct, Legal Way:

Some advanced randomizers can shuffle type matchups (Water might be weak to Grass instead of Fire) or change how Pokémon evolve (a Haunter might evolve via a Fire Stone instead of trading).
Uncheck the "No Legendaries" filter in the randomizer options. Set wild encounters to "Completely Random." Your goal: Beat Cynthia using a team of six Legendaries. The fossil you revive, the Happiny egg from Hearthome City, and even the legendary box-art Pokémon, Dialga, can be randomized. You might end up catching a level 47 Bidoof at the Spear Pillar instead of the Lord of Time.
Use the randomizer to scramble types, then choose a type you love (e.g., Fire, Ghost, Ice). You can only catch Pokémon that have that type after the randomization. This forces you to use weird, suboptimal mons you’d never touch normally.
