Interpex IX1D v350 is a specialized software application designed for the forward modeling and automatic inversion of 1D resistivity sounding data. Unlike full tomography software, IX1D v350 focuses on the vertical variation of resistivity beneath a single point—the "sounding" center.
The "v350" designation represents a stable, feature-rich version that bridged the gap between legacy DOS-based programs (like RESIX) and modern graphical environments. It operates under Microsoft Windows (supporting Win 95 through Windows 10 in compatibility mode) and introduced enhanced graphics, data editing tools, and robust convergence algorithms.
Even before inversion, you can build hypothetical layered models and generate synthetic sounding curves. This is invaluable for survey design and teaching.
In hard-rock terrains (granite, basalt), weathered zones and fractures are conductive. Using Schlumberger soundings with IX1D v350, hydrogeologists can map the depth to bedrock and the saturated zone. A typical three-layer model (high resistivity topsoil → low resistivity weathered/fractured rock → high resistivity fresh bedrock) is rapidly resolved.
