In Carbon’s save data, every car has a “Heat” parameter. This isn’t about police heat—it’s an internal flag that determines:

Normal tuners, muscles, and exotics (Tier 1-3) typically use heat values like 0, 1, or 2. However, Exclusive cars use a special heat system—often values like 4, 5, or 6—because the game treats them as “boss rewards” or “100% completion trophies.”

Bonus/Exclusive cars in NFS Carbon are often hard-coded to have zero heat or be "undrivable" in Career mode until specific global flags are unlocked. Attempting to force a Heat Level 5 value onto a BMW M3 GTR in the Career garage often results in a checksum failure or an "Invalid Value" exception from the editor.

Avoid generic hex editors. Use NFSC Save Editor v1.1.1 (or newer community patches). Look for a specific checkbox or dropdown labeled:

When adding an Exclusive car, set Heat Value to 5 (confirmed working for most Exclusive cars in Career mode).

If the editor allows manual input, set the Heat Value to the default for that car type:

| Car Type | Valid Heat Value Range | Exclusive Constraint | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Tier 1 (e.g., Mazda RX-8) | 2 – 4 | No values below 2 | | Tier 2 (e.g., Lamborghini Gallardo) | 4 – 6 | Must match crew tier | | Tier 3 (e.g., Porsche Carrera GT) | 6 – 7 | Exclusive to post-endgame | | Boss Cars | 8 | Fixed, non-modifiable | | Police Vehicles | 10 | Exclusive, no other car uses 10 | | Reward Cars (e.g., BMW M3 GTR) | 7 | Exclusive to challenge series |

Set the value to 4 if you are unsure. This is the most neutral, safe value.

Before any editing, always backup \Documents\NFS Carbon\NFSC.sav. One wrong heat value can freeze your garage loading screen, forcing a restart from scratch.
